WNC Ag Center, Fletcher, NC December 30-31, 2016 – New Year’s Weekend at the WNC Ag Center saw some of the best racing of the season. Kyle Bitterman (Kaw) was Mr Consistency for the weekend as he was on the podium every race both days. On Friday Mike Brown (Husky) pulled the holeshot in the 250 pro class and led until 3 laps to go. Bitterman was all over him but Brown was riding smart. Late in the race he got arm pump and couldn’t hold on. Bitterman took the win followed by Brown, Tyler McSwain (Yam), Cody Gragg (KTM), Robbie Horton (Honda), and Marshall Weltin (Yam). The 450 class holeshot belonged to Weltin, but McSwain took over the lead on lap 3 and took it to the win. Bitterman worked his way through the pack to finish second. Brown claimed 3rd, Nathan Winegar (Kaw) got 4th, Horton was 5th, and Weltin 6th.
On Saturday it was Tyler Chavis (Honda) with the holeshot in the 250 pro class over Chandler Lindsey (Honda). Chavis was pulling away, but Weltin was charging. With 4 laps to go Chavis had problems and fell back to 4th. Weltin took the lead and scored the win over Bitterman, Lindsey, McSwain, Brown, and Shane Hall (KTM). Winegar holeshot the 450 pro class but Weltin and Lindsey were all over him. Bitterman was working up from a bad start. Weltin got by on the 4th lap and took it to the win. Lindsey moved up to 2nd and Horton to third. On the 8th lap Horton got caught up in a wreck in the whoops and Bitterman moved to third. Bitterman got by Lindsey to finish 2nd and almost caught Weltin, but ran out of time. Lindsey got 3rd followed by Brown, Gragg, and Winegar.
