January 20-21 – Blountville, TN. The FMF Indoor Winter Series made it’s annual trip to the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, TN for rounds #7 and #8 of the series. The weather was much warmer than it should be for the middle of January which helped to bring out a good spectator turnout to witness some great racing.
On Friday night it was Tyler McSwain (Yam) setting the standard as he won the 250 pro class wire to wire. Looking smooth and fast as always it looked like he could dominate the weekend. Mike Brown (Hus) got out in 2nd and finished in that position. Marshall Weltin (Hon) worked his way up from a bad start to claim 3rd. Fourth was Chandler Lindsay (Hon), followed by Robbie Horton (Hon), Donny Brown (Yam), and Cody Gragg (KTM).
In the 450 pro class it was Daniel Baker (KTM) with the holeshot. Horton was running 2nd with Brandon Marley (KTM) in 3rd. Mike Brown worked his way into 2nd, then on the 5th lap Horton went down and Brown was into 2nd where he finished. McSwain got a bad start but was charging through the pack. He got to 4th place but injured his foot and was out of the race. Lindsay got 3rd followed by Donny Brown, Horton, Weltin, and Gragg.
Saturday night it was Mike Brown who won the 250 pro class wire to wire. Weltin claimed 2nd over Horton, Gragg, Donny Brown, Lindsay, and Harrison West (Hon).
In the 450 pro class Baker pulled the holeshot and was checking out until he had a flat tire. Horton was running 2nd and he easily took the lead on the third lap. Two laps later Mike Brown got by Horton for the lead. They finished that way with Weltin in 3rd followed by Lindsay, Donny Brown, Gragg, and West.
The next race is February 3-4 at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher, NC.
